What a great man! He was civil, courteous, hardworking and honest.  I remember him well as he came in to clean my office. He was always polite and well-mannered, and often had a small conversation with him. We will always remember him. May he rest in peace! My deep condolences to his family.

Mark always seemed to make conscious effort to be friendly and encouraging. He made the world a better place wherever he was.

Mark was such a cheerful person and I always enjoyed his friendly greeting every time we met.  He was dedicated to his work at DLI.  I will miss him very much.

Mark Olmo, 40, of Seaside passed Sunday in his home at 5:20pm.
He was born April 8, 1975, in Carmel, CA.
Mark was a Federal Janitor for 17 years for Pride Industries of DLI.
He is survived by his mother, Victoria Moats-Olmo-King, and his father Tony Olmo and his step mother Pat Olmo of Monterey.
He has (1) half sister, Rachael Gobbell of Alaska and (1) step sister, Denise Alvarado of Pacific Grove, (1) Brother-In-Law Justin Gobbell of Alaska. & (3) uncles, Henry Olmo and Joseph Olmo of Seaside and Thomas Yauch of San Diego and (3) Aunts Debra Yauch of San Diego, Linda Olmo of Seaside and Charlette Olmo of Seaside. He has (2) Grandmothers, Sylvia Olmo of Seaside and Barbara Moats and (1) Grandfather, LeRoy Moats of Seaside, (4) nieces Janice, Jennifer, Jessica Gobbell of Alaska and Alexis Olmo of Seaside and (1) nephew Joseph Olmo and many other relatives throughout the country.
Mark lived a good life and was strong and brave and kept his faith in his terrible battle against cancer.
He loved serving the Lord and worked in many ministries teaching Children's Church, Men's CR, Community Outreach & The Care Center Ministry. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, football, and video games.

Celebration of Life Service will be held October 24, 2015, @ 3pm (In the Parkside Room) with a Reception to Follow (In the Pacific Room) @ Shoreline Community Church, 2500 Garden Road, Monterey, CA.

On behalf of the Command History Office of the Defense Language Institute, I express my condolences to the family and friends of Mark Olmo. I got to know Mark over the years through his routine visits to our office.  He was a fine guy who always expressed his interest in history. We will miss him.

Mark, It was a pleasure serving alongside you in the Cove at Shoreline Community Church.  After Norma's stroke you always made it a point to seek her out and encourage her in her recovery.  Now you are in Paradise with our Lord.  I will miss your smiling face but am glad you are no longer suffering.

Mark, good and faithful servant. Always ready to lend a hand at church, in Community Outreach, Care Minisry and Children's Ministry. You went above and beyond, even giving a sermon at the Care Center. Always bringing your dog around to put big smiles on the faces of the elderly, ill and lonely. Thank you for the special cards, flowers and constant encouragement you gave me. You had a rough go, not being able to serve, bravely fighting and trusting in God. That was always you...thinking of others. You made a difference to so many. I will miss you so much! I will meet you in paradise with our Lord and Savior. Much love, Debra

Mark, I have met a lot of boys in our family. You are one of the sweetest, most at loving nephews! We are so happy that you made God first in your life! You loved making others happy! Visiting people who were ill, just you and your dog, made so many people happy! You blessed their lives more than you will ever know! Always thinking of your mom, dad, and your grandpa and grandma! God will truly be proud of everything you accomplished here on earth!! Someday, We hope to see you and when we do, "I will give you the hug I wanted to give you here on earth!! We love you Markie!!!

Words can't even describe how I feel at this moment. Since the first time I meet you, you were so thoughtful, kind, caring, and the most sincere person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I got the honor of becoming part of your family and spending time with you when we would visit. You were so kind to Bailey, I only wish Keira would of gotten the chance to know you, I'm sure she would of loved you like we all do. We lost such an amazing person that it seems unfair. No matter the hurt that I feel and the tears that I've shed I know that you will be watching over all of us, and smiling down on us. You will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
