Mary E. McGowan was called June 14, 2023, to her heavenly home. Mary went peacefully at her home in Seaside, Ca. Mary was born on August 14, 1932, to Mack C. Hunter and Roxianna Hunter in Jacksonville Texas, Married to Charlie McGowan, Sr. (deceased). Mary accepted Christ as her Savior and united with Hayes CME Church in Seaside, Ca.
Mary liked to walk the bike path to the wharf, fishing and camping with her grandchildren. Mary was an Usher in the church, was an active red hat lady, and enjoyed traveling to church conferences, sporting events with her grandchildren. Mary was a member of Church Women United.
Mary leaves to cherish her loving memories of three daughters, Linda J. Hobson (Michelle, John, Mike). Delane Johnson (Ladine, Temika) and Eloise (Teeny) Charles Henderson. Two sons, James O. Hobson (Crystal, Janell, Alex, Candice and Christian). Michael Wayne Hobson (Erna, Jasmine, Samantha, Mike Hobson Jr. and Joshua). Son, Leonard M. Hobson (Lenecia, Leonard R., Candice). Deceased March 2020.
Mary also leaves a sister, Newelyn Dolores Elmidge, San Jose, Ca. Two brothers pre-deceased, Mack Hunter, George Melvin Hunter.
Mary leaves behind a host of great, great grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A viewing and funeral for Mary will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church, 1304 Sonoma Ave, Seaside, California 93955.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Hobson Sr., Christian Hobson, Frank James, Gary Dunn, Mike Hobson Jr., Jamal Elmidge, John Muldrew, Mike Muldrew, Antonio Hobson, Treshawn Johnson, Ronnie Belton, Roncell L Belton, Kain Z. Holly, Adonis Bryant and Alfred (Bubba) Johnson.
