Olivia was born to John and Pauline Motha in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, on January 28, 1920. She moved with her family to Seaside, California in 1930, and resided there for the rest of her life.
Olivia loved and nurtured several generations of her family. As a teenager she helped care for her baby sister, Madeline, and also cared for her niece and nephews, and great nieces and nephew when they came along. She was always working alongside her Mother in their home or in their bountiful garden. As a young woman, she worked in the Hovden Cannery, which is now the Monterey Aquarium. Olivia enjoyed attending the annual Portuguese Festa and parades.
She loved embroidering, which she was quite good at, and started a quilt featuring different animals that she loved. Olivia loved everyone she met and was loved by all who knew her. She made many friends while walking her dog, Rusty, around the neighborhood. She loved animals, especially cats.
Olivia is survived by her sister, Madeline Abramonte, nephews, Sal (Sheri) and John Abramonte, niece, Rosine (Brian) Pratt, all of Seaside, great nieces, Suzanne Abramonte of Napa, Sallie (Jaime) Alvarez of Santa Barbara and great nephew, Travis Pratt of Seaside. Olivia will be truly missed by all.
Our family would like to thank ALL the wonderful staff at Carmel Hills Care Center for the kind and loving care they gave Olivia in her final days.
