January 1, 1948 – January 6, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Primo Remigio Orata Ursua, age 77, on January 6, 2025, from Seaside, California. Born on January 1, 1948, in the Philippines, Primo made his way to California in October of 1973, where he became a beloved member of the Monterey/Seaside community.
Primo dedicated 38 years of his life working in maintenance at the Monterey Marriott, a job he held with pride and commitment.
He left an impression with everyone he met. The life of the party! Always caring, compassionate, and readily available to offer a helping hand whenever needed.
In his free time, he enjoyed going on cruises to explore the world with his Wife and to be close to the ocean which they both loved. Primo also enjoyed fishing and being creative with his hands in woodworking combining both design and craftsmanship to create beautiful, timeless functional pieces.
However, it was being surrounded by family that brought him the greatest joy. Known for his laughter, generosity, caring nature, and lovable personality, Primo’s presence was a source of light to all who knew him.
He is survived by his beautiful, loving wife, Vicky Lopez-Ursua.
Three children: Rosemarie Ursua, Joanna Shofner (Ryun, son-in-law), and Remy Ursua (Brianna, daughter in-law).
