Ray Ibanez

Ray is survived by his wife, Vicki Ibanez, his children and step-children, Rodney Ibanez of Sacramento, Angela & Joseph Lorenzo of San Jose, Grace Abila of Salinas, Paulette & Joe Torcules of Redding, Leona & Justin Ventura of Las Vegas, Olivia Abila & Alex Guting of Milpitas, Arthur & Carisa Abila of Prunedale, 27 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His sisters, Loreta Requiro, Alice Bautista & Rebecca Caoili, many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Ray was born July 1944 in the Philippines. He came to the US as a young boy. After living in various states, he settled in Seaside, California with his family. He attended Fremont Junior High School and graduated from Monterey High School. There he was known for his basketball skills and for having many friends. He joined the US Army and was stationed at Dugway, Utah and Butzbach, Germany. After an honorable discharge, he moved back to the central coast and began his 40 year career in the car business. Working at dealerships from San Jose to Seaside, from sales to management, he excelled. He was named Salesman of the Month several times and was honored as Salesman of the Year. He spent his off time fishing, golfing and playing bingo. He loved listening to "oldies" and connecting with friends and family thru social media. He tended to his garden which was always blooming with fresh fruit and vegetables. He was proud of his discus fish that he bred and hand raised. As an avid San Francisco 49er fan, he added to his ever growing collection of 49er memorabilia. Most of all, Ray enjoyed his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 1:00 until 8:00pm at the Bayside Memorial Funeral Home, 1610 Noche Buena Street, Seaside, California. Rosary for Ray will begin at 6:00pm.

Funeral services for Ray will be held at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 1475 La Salle Avenue, Seaside, California, Friday March 18, 2016 at 11:00am. Ray will be laid to rest at the Mission Memorial Cemetery in Seaside, California directly following the funeral mass.
