Reverend Searcy E. White was born on March 29, 1939 in Houston, Texas. Searcy was the sixth of seven children born to Searcy Lee White and Robirda White. God called Searcy to rest on Monday February 19, 2018.

Searcy graduated from Houston’s Phyliss Wheatley High School in 1957. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army. While stationed in the state of Washington, Searcy met the love of his life, Josezette J. Mouton. They were married on August 25, 1961. They moved to Seaside in 1967 where they were lifelong residents. They were blessed with nine children.

Searcy had a distinguished military career that included tours to Germany, Korea, and Vietnam (where he received a Purple Heart). He retired as a Sergeant Major. After the military he worked for ten years with the Monterey Peninsula School District as a Custodian.

To his brother, sisters, and their families he was known as “Bubba” a nickname that stuck with him for life. To his friends he was known as Reverend White. Searcy was known for his devotion to Jesus Christ and helping others in need. While in Korea, Searcy along with other soldiers started a church that went from a small group to a large congregation which spread the gospel on two continents. He was ordained at Community Missionary Baptist Church in Pacific Grove under the Reverend G.E. Hooks. Reverend White ministered at Ocean View Baptist Church and most recently attended Lighthouse Full Gospel. Searcy opened his home to many family and friends, helped those in need, and provided spiritual guidance to all.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Searcy and Robirda; his son Junius; grandson Junius; sisters Lycurgus, Marion, Audrey, Thaloise; and brother Marcellus.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife Josezette, four sons: Searcy (Lisa), Joseph, Alexander, and Cyrus; four daughters: Carsie (Ernest), Audrey (Jeff), April (Robert), and Crystal (Shawn); sister Melba; 27 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; nieces, and nephews, friends and acquaintances.

My Father whom I love so much! The best gift you gave me was introduce us to Jesus Christ. I have passed that onto my children and now passing the gift you and mommy gave me to my grandchildren. You will always be in my heart!

Love your daughter,

Poem: The extra Mile. Mr.White your passion was to make sure souls where right. In good standing before Jesus Christ. You always went the extra mile to make sure souls where sound. You gave it your all each time you meet a soul face to face you knew there is no time to waste. This soul needs Jesus Christ amazing grace. you let us know there is no time to wonder or make an excuse. You need Jesus He will see you through. You gave your life and time to Jesus. Evangelized the lost no matter what the cost. Money isn't what you needed to heed the call. just the voice of Your Savior, The Holy Bible and prayer. You showed us that Every soul is worth the labor and extra mile. Now you can Rest In Peace with your Savior. You received your crown, you covered much ground, souls are the Jewels in your crown. Thank you Elder White, for your love and compassion for Christ and souls. You are A pillar in the community of Seaside, Ca. You will truly be missed . I love you, Mother White and family you are in my prayers.

To Searcy's family, I'm truly saddened by the passing of my "Brother". Searcy is the longest and closest friend in my life. The Lord now has at his side a great warrior, a great friend, a great father and a great husband, I know that He is pleased with His choice. We'll miss Searcy but he will be forever in our hearts. Be strong, faithful and loving as Searcy has been, it will be a legacy well worth living. May God bless you all. I love you.
