Willis “Rooster” Williams was born in Clearwater, Florida, on December 22, 1935, to the union of Thelma and Spencer Davis. Willis passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, following illness. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very young age.
Willis enlisted in the United States army in 1956; he served two tours of duty in Vietnam, a tour in Germany, Thailand, and Fort Ord, CA. His decorations include Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal 4-Awards, National Defense Service Award, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Gallantry w/Palm. He retired October 31, 1979.
Willis met and married, Mary Nell Hancock of Nashville, Tennessee, on December 6, 1978. They were happily married for 34 years.
Willis, Rooster as he was affectionately known to many, was a happy man. He loved cooking at the Retired Men’s Social Club and at home. He always loved good music and watching wrestling on TV.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Mary Nell; two daughters, Sean of Orange Lake, Florida and Naranja of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Teiah, Jamel, and Myiah all of Atlanta, Georgia; two great grandchildren Jahmel and Jeremiah along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a large hosts of friends.
