Yvonne Evelyn Scott, age 91, known to many simply as “Mama,” was born on July 26th, 1922 in Brunswick, Georgia and died on March 23rd, 2014, in her home in Seaside, CA. Mrs. Scott moved to Miami, Florida in her early twenties where she was active in the Order of the Eastern Star. In the early 1970’s, she moved to Seaside, CA where she has resided ever since. In 1991, after twenty years of service she retired from Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
Mama was blessed with a combination of a strong will and a playful personality. She was full of life and love for her family. She is predeceased by her husband, Lemuel Scott (“Scotty”) and is survived by her loving daughter, Yvonne (Lacy) Kirkland, grandson, Steven Goings, brother, Dr. Ray (Dr. Myldred) Hill, along with Doris Shriver whom she considered her other daughter, as well as many cousins and friends.
An extraordinary woman with an unforgettable personality, as she goes home to be with the Lord, may she finally know with certainty how much she has been loved here on earth.
