Adah was born to Byron and Ruby Bryant of Lake Village, Indiana. Her family ran a small restaurant named Ade-Way cafe. She graduated class of 1943 from Morocco High school. Adah moved to Seattle in the late 50's and settled in West Seattle.
During her life she worked as a telephone operator (3 yrs ) a payroll machine operator ( 5 yrs ) a fur finisher ( 4 yrs ) and as a bank teller for Guaranty bank in White Center which is now US Bank ( 15 yrs ). Adah married Willard Rhodes in 1975 until he passed in 1991. Willard and Adah took a two month cruise on the Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1978 one of the highlights of her life, she joked after two months she still got lost on the boat. Adah was a long time member of Fauntleroy Church of Christ. A member of the Church Mice, a group of parishioners who sewed quilts and baby blankets among other items.
Adah married Earl Cruzen in 2000, they enjoyed traveling to different parts of the world and being very involved in their West Seattle community. After Earl passed in 2017, Adah continued her and Earl's support of local charities and numerous other West Seattle organizaions. She was most proud of the new Welcome to West Seattle sign and the restoration project for the West Seattle Murals. Adah also provided scholorships to South Seattle Community College and Seattle University. Adah would go once a week to the Senior Center to listen to the Uke's of West Seattle play. In 2019 Adah received the Westsider of the year award (Orville Rummel community service award), given by the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce. Also that year she had the honor of being the Grand Marshall in the West Seattle Grand Parade,which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Adah is survived by her sister Levina Bryant of Anderson Indiana, who is 100 yrs old. Her niece Gloria Phillippe and three great niece's Dawn Hiatt, Jennifer Liblerand, and Jami Ryan. Step daughter Sally Crouch and grandsons Scott Crouch and Garth Crouch(Nickie). Step daughter Carla Friehe (Berend), grandchildren Phillip (Justine), Derek (Amber), Stephanie Cumaravel (Collin), and Katharina Rainis (Michael). Along with 15 great grandchildren, and another due in Sept.
Remembrances may be made to Fauntleroy Church of Christ and the Senior Center of West Seattle. Services will be at Fauntleroy Church, 9140 California Avenue Southwest, Seattle, WA.
