Adrienne V. Gordon, 85, current resident of Mt. Lake Terrace, WA, long-time resident of Queen Anne Hill, passed away peacefully November 12, 2014, at Edmonds Swedish Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Bremerton, WA, September 11, 1929, to David M. and Nadine G. (Miller) Shrecengost. She was raised in Bremerton by her mother Nadine and step-father, John Pruner. Adrienne graduated from Bremerton High School in 1947, where she greatly enjoyed being the baton twirling Head Majorette of her high school marching band.
After graduating high school, Adrienne began her life long career in Seattle in 1948, with Pacific NW Bell Telephone Co., formerly Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co., and later to become known as AT&T(in 1984) During her 47 year career as a telephone operator with the company, she also took on the role of Union Steward, Ombudsman, Unit Supervisor, Long Distance operator, and for a short time, was Editor of the “One Ringy Dingy” newspaper dedicated to the operators.
Adrienne married the love of her life, Leonard C. Gordon, in Seattle, WA.
Her greatest joy was being mother to her three daughters and raising them with Leonard. She chose to work night shifts, opposite Leonard’s day shifts, so that one of them could always be with the children. This was an adventure in coordination. Adrienne and Leonard were loved and enjoyed by many of their children’s friends. Adrienne was known for her quick wit, compassion, and caring spirit. She loved camping, music, drawing/painting, gardening, dancing, crossword and jig saw puzzles, reading anything she could get her hands on, and most of all, being with her family. She loved to cut out articles from newspapers or magazines and send them to the family members she felt would enjoy them. Following the death of her beloved husband Leonard in April 1980, Adrienne continued to work until retiring from her career in 1992. She continued to live on top of Queen Anne Hill, on Warren Avenue N. until moving to Mt. Lake Terrace in 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nadine Pruner, and brother John T. Pruner, Jr.
