

She began her life on September 15,1946, in Oakland, CA to Charles Orpen Woodworth and Vera Bonner. The first of seven children, she grew up in Mill Valley, CA before moving to Glen Ellen, CA to a family farm. She graduated from Sonoma Valley High School in 1964.
Aleta began working at the Sonoma Index Tribune soon after graduation. She met Michael S Akin, marrying him at Trinity Episcopal Church in Sonoma, CA on September 11, 1965. She became a Navy wife, following him to various stations, including Guam and Cyprus, where she immersed herself in the local cultures. She gave birth to two children while traveling, Julia and Jerome.
She divorced in 1979. She launched into a new career soon after as a bookkeeper and accountant. She worked at various places like the Roman Catholic Bishop of San Diego in the early 80’s as their chief accountant for 89 parishes. She also spent time working at Action Graphics in mid 80’s, Frank Orth & Assoc mid-80’s to early 90’s, Froning Accounting Services in mid 90’s and Brueggeman & Johnson doing forensic accounting.
She later started her own accounting business, Better Business Bookkeeping, which she ran out of her home in West Seattle on Alki Beach. She adopted the moniker “FabTaxBabe” and used that as her website. Aleta loved doing forensic accounting, often rescuing businesses under IRS audits. She would sometimes reconstruct entire business records from a box of receipts
Aleta was a member of the International Footprinters Assn, NAEA, NSA, WSTC, WSSEA, NSTP and Southwest Seattle Historical Society.
Her father, Charles, a California Highway Patrol Officer, passed away in August 1964. Her mother, Vera, passed away in November 2003.
Aleta is survived by her daughter Julia McReynolds and her husband Jack, and by her son, Jerome Woodworth and his wife, Rebecca; 4 grandchildren Tanner, Serena, JC and Joel; and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her six siblings: Valerie, Linette, Richard, Greg, Larry & Cliff.
There will be a private Celebration of Life held on April 15, 2026, in Seattle, WA.
