Alice Pearl Seymour

Alice Pearl McClanahan Seymour was born in Many, Louisiana, the fourth of nine children born to Richard and Willie Mae McClanahan. At age four, she moved to Seattle, Washington, to live with her grandmother, Mable Mitchell.

Alice met Edward Seymour in 1957 while attending Garfield High School. The couple married on April 27, 1962, and were blessed with two daughters.

Alice attended Coleman Elementary School and Bailey Gatzert Junior High School before graduating from Garfield High School in 1962. In 2002, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in Bellevue, Washington.

Alice began attending Goodwill Baptist Church in Seattle, WA in 1958. In 1964, she and her family joined Antioch Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and eventually served as its president. After 21 years at Antioch, the family joined Christian Faith Center in Des Moines, WA.

Throughout her career, Alice held several professional positions, including a 28-year tenure with the Boeing Company. She retired in 2014.

Alice found joy in activities that benefited both herself and others. She especially enjoyed painting acrylic landscapes, several of which were displayed by the Seattle Artists Guild. In 2018, she took up ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Through the Renton Rotary Club, she helped provide knitted receiving blankets and hats for newborns, as well as scarves for school-aged children.

Alice was ordained in counseling ministry at Christian Faith Center in 2004 and became a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors in 2005.

In 2021, Alice lost her husband after 59 years of marriage. Following his death, she was diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. She lived with the condition for four years and spent her final days in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Annette Seymour (Renton, WA) and Juanita Rhone (Tukwila, WA); her grandsons, Jason Seymour (Renton), Evan Rhone (Tukwila), and Ethan Rhone (Renton); and her sister, Margaret McClanahan of Louisiana.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Willie Mae McClanahan of Many, Louisiana; her sisters, Leda Bell McClanahan of Pineville, Louisiana, and Barbara "Bobby Jean" McClanahan of Marthaville, Louisiana; and her brothers, Clinton McClanahan of Washington D.C., Truman, Charles and Terry McClanahan of Louisiana, and Benton McClanahan of Seattle, Washington.

Alce Seymour's family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone whose prayers, support, flowers, cards, meals, kindness, and love brought comfort during this difficult time.

The family also gratefully acknowledges the Always Best Adult Home Care team, EvergreeHealth Home Care Services and Hospice teams, whose compassionate care heled make Alice's final journey peaceful and comfortable.
