

Alton (Al) passed away January 3, 2015. He was born July 15, 1919 in Honey Hill, South Carolina to James and Ethel Wilson. He married Margaret Petrie on December 27, 1943 in Reno, Nevada during shore leave while serving in the Navy. They celebrated 71 years of marriage on December 27th.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, one of his nine siblings, Charles Greenland (C.G.) and 2 of his 3 sons, Steven and his wife Teresa and Glenn and his wife Pamela. His eldest son, Alton, Jr. (Bud) preceded him in death as did his granddaughter, Karri Ann. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Ruth, and his 10 grandchildren, Joseph (Terri), Emily (Darren Williams), James (Summer), Christina (David Cole) Marna (Don Carroll), Taylor (Tiffany), Stephanie, Mark, Trisha, Jessica, and 20 great grandchildren.
He was a commissioned officer in the US Navy, served on the U.S.S. Maryland, and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Later, he was a Warrant Boatswain on the U.S.S. Bootes, an ammunition ship assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He served his country for 6 years doing his part to help secure the Western Pacific.
He and Margaret were very active socially and were lifetime honorary members of Sand Point Country Club. They loved to travel and often visited Hawaii and Mexico with family and friends, enjoyed trips to Jamaica and Spain, and among the tens of thousands of road miles, drove the Al-Can Highway to Alaska when it was little more than a gravel trail into the frontier.
His love of family and friends, great sense of humor and clever ingenuity will be missed by all.
