Alvin Stemmer Pearl, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona on Monday, November 29th, surrounded by family. Alvin was born April 5th, 1933 in Seattle, WA to Sylvia and Jerry Pearl. He grew up in Seattle with his sister Luetta and his parents, attending Garfield High School where he made lifelong friends. He then continued his education at the University of Washington and then Pacific University to pursue his degree in optometry, graduating in 1958. Alvin established a successful optometric practice and launched a second career in real estate investments. In addition, Alvin served his community, as a member of the board of the Bellevue Boys & Girls Club and as the Water Commissioner for the town of Hunts Point.
In 1957, Alvin married Seattle native Carole Blumenthal, which marked the beginning of a happily married life with children and grandchildren. A loving and hands-on father, Alvin taught all three of his children to snow and water ski, and was ever-present at sporting events and extracurricular activities. He showed the same encouragement to his 9 grandchildren, maintaining a wonderful relationship with each of them and attending many of their milestone events.
His family fondly remembers the wonderful times they had on family vacations, such as memorable excursions to New Zealand, Thailand, and China; relaxing vacations in Hawaii; and ski trips to Sun Valley. There were boat outings, tennis games, and laughter on the golf course.
Alvin is survived by his loving family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Carole, and his children Craig (Joy) Pearl, Tad (Margaret) Pearl, and Tracey (Shanin) Specter, as well as his 9 grandchildren, Zoe Pearl, Silvi (Oran Goldberg) Specter, Jack Pearl, Perri Specter, Lilli Specter, Jamie Pearl, Harrison Pearl, Hatti Specter, and Lauren Pearl.
A funeral service for Alvin will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Butterworth Funeral Home - Arthur A. Wright Chapel, in Queen Anne at 520 W RAYE ST, SEATTLE, WA 98119. A graveside service will follow at Hills of Eternity Cemetery next door. The family asks that only vaccinated individuals attend.
