Amie Komoto, age 87, passed away on December 29, 2009. She was born in Wapato, WA to Chusaburo (Charlie) and Masayo Kaisaki and later relocated to Lewiston, ID. After graduating from high school, Amie wanted to contribute to the war effort so she joined the Women's Army Corp in 1945. Amie attended the University of Idaho where she majored in social work and later received a Master's degree in social work at the University of Washington. She used her education to coordinate adoptions and match children to potential parents for the Children's Home Society of Washington, Medina Children's Services, and Family Court. Amie loved to tap dance with her sister Yoshie, play golf and bridge, crochet and travel the world with Bill and their friends.
Amie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bill Komoto, and cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers Tad, Hide, and Aggie, sisters Setsue Ninomiya and Yoshie Inouye, and beloved cat, Dinah.
