Anita was born October 28, 1930 in Los Angeles, CA and passed away on May 25, 2026 in Kent, WA at the age of 95. Many of Anita’s family members were able to be with her in her last few days and she had family with her at her side when she passed.
Anita was born to Romana and Dionisio Muguira, both Basque immigrants from northern Spain, and raised along with her older sister Emily in southern CA. Emily also lived to 95 years of age.
Anita met and married John Navarro in southern CA where they began their 60 years of marriage together. There, they had two daughters, Vicki and Ginger. The family moved to Portland, OR in 1957 where Steve and Lisa were born. In 1970 the family moved again to Bothell, WA. Anita and John spent their final years in Kent, WA with John passing in 2010.
Anita worked at U.S. Bank and as a bookkeeper off and on while raising the family. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and reading a good book. She was a Camp Fire Girl leader, 4H knitting leader and “sports Mom”. She loved to keep score for baseball and softball games, whether as the official scorer for kids’ games or just for fun watching the Mariners. Anita and John enjoyed square dancing, camping and boating on the Columbia River and Lake Washington. Her real joy was the beach. The family made it a point to take “Grandma” to a beach somewhere in Washington, Oregon or California every summer.
Anita will forever be remembered and deeply missed by her four children: Vicki Navarro, Ginger Nielsen (Brian), Steve Navarro (Patty), and Lisa Akins (Mike), her 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Every time we hear the ocean waves we’ll think of Grandma!
Anita will be privately interred at Washelli Columbarium, Seattle, Washington.
