Ardis was born April 15, 1942, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Gottlieb and Elsie (Dewerff) Pfingsten. She grew up in Chaffee, ND and graduated from Mapleton ND High in 1960.
Ardis met her first husband, Gary Christianson, at Fargo’s Famous Five Spot. They married in 1963 and had two children: Brian Christianson and Linda Schulz. They divorced in 1974 and she met and married William H. Brokaw in 1981.
Ardis worked as a nurse’s aide and later as a housekeeper. She proudly served as a poll worker at her local voting precinct and as a deacon at New Hope Presbyterian Church in South Park.
Her children remember her as a kind, generous person who worked hard, enjoyed life and loved everyone she met.
Ardis is survived by her two children and their families; her stepson and his family; and two sisters, Arlene Hoglund, Bismarck, ND, and Mary Akason, Fargo, ND.
Ardis was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents and three siblings, Linda Pfingsten, Mavis Scanlon and Lee Pfingsten.
Memorial will be at noon on Friday, May 13, 2022, next to the columbarium at Evergreen Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98133.
