

Arlene, born March l, 1939 in Honolulu, Hawaii, died November 9, 2024 in Seattle, Washington at age 85, and peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Disabled by chronic heart and kidney failure, she died of natural causes at home in Ballard under the loving care of her husband Odin.
A witness of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Arlene was in Waikiki and not quite three years old at the time, yet she had many vivid memories of that fateful day. Arlene enjoyed thirteen idyllic years of childhood in Honolulu, six teenage years in Chico, California and sixty six years in a loving marriage, making a good life that was enriched by ever-changing circumstances with a patchwork of homes in six States and Canada.
Beloved wife and mother, Arlene is survived by her husband Odin Hale, her daughters Irene Hale and Charlotte Hale, and numerous cousins in the United States and Canada.
Arlene was a donor to the University of Washington School of Medicine Willed Body Program. At her request, her remains are to be placed in Evergreen Washelli's Doughboy Monument at a future date.
