

Born October 2, 1935 in Hood River, Oregon, passed away on May 12, 2010 after a valiant two year battle with pancreatic cancer in Kirkland, Washington at the age of 74. Atha's passions in life were her family, doll collecting, sewing and all things related to her hobbies. She did extensive research and shared this and her knowledge with collectors throughout the nation for over 50 years. Based on her outstanding contributions to the doll community, the United Federation of Doll Collectors, headquartered in Kansas City, named their national library The Atha Kahler Library. This is the first time they have named a room in their museum after an individual. Atha , the much loved wife, mom, and grandma is survived by her husband of 55 years Harlin, a daughter, Vicki, three sons, Clint, Dirk, Corey, and seven grandchildren Ripley, Karlin, Delaney, Harris, Hudson, Josephine, and Mairead.
The United Federation of Doll Clubs and the Seattle Doll & Toy Collector's Club has established the Virginia Gordon and Atha Kahler Scholarship fund to honor their many years of dedicated service to UFDC and her efforts to promote the education of collectors and the research of dolls and doll costuming.
