I knew Barbara from Houser Terrace.  She became a valued friend.  I will always remember how we worked together solving some of the computer problems here at Houser Terrace. We used to visit with Barbara sometimes in the evenings in the Lobby.  There was good conversation and many laughs.  She will be sorely missed, not only by myself but by many of the other residents of Houser Terrace.

Our mom was very kind and the most generous person Iâ€™ve ever known. She always thought of her children first. She would give her last dollar if she knew you needed it. She also had a very quick wit and great sense of humor.

Through my life my mom has been my confidant, friend and biggest supporter. She gave direction, constructive criticism and always a shoulder to cry on. 

We used to laugh at each other;  because we could sit down in front of the TV and both start sobbing when the long distant commercial came on; that seemed to always come on when we were together.. 

As I look back on my life, I find myself wondering.....Did I remember to thank her for all that she has done for me. For all of the times she was by my side to help me celebrate my successes and accept my defeats? Or for teaching me the value of hard work, good judgment, courage, and honesty? I wonder if I've ever thanked her for the simple things...The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we've shared? If I have forgotten to express my gratitude for any of these things, I am thanking you now....and I know she knows how very much I loved her and how much I will miss her.

Loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt and grandma that are what Barbara Jean Erickson was and always will be to her family.

Each of these roles was very important to her, roles that she tried really hard not to take for granted. She lived her life the best way she knew how no matter what obstacles she had to over come.

Family was the most important to her and she lived for her children. No birthday passed without a card, to let you know she was thinking of you. No phone call ended without an 
â€ I love youâ€. She taught all her kids to be strong and not to take life too seriously.

Her greatest joy in live was becoming a grandma for the first and only time 3 years ago. She loved to tell stories about him to whoever would listen. She always made time for him, even when she was at her sickest. She would baby-sit just to spend time with him. Her biggest fear, she said, was that she would leave this world too soon and her grandson wouldnâ€™t remember her but you donâ€™t forget a person like out mom; a person who was so loving and devoted and she will truly be missed by all those whose lives she touched so deeply.
