That can't possibly say it all. How can we'
Mom established a hearthstone of love and tradition. She was the "Kool-Aid mom", creating the "apple-pie" family and achieving "Mrs. Cleaver" status among neighbors for unending support in times of crisis and joy. That has continued to nurture and bless our family and friends. Mom was ALWAYS there, applying hugs and kisses on many a skinned knee and tear-stained cheek. She was a willing participant and ardent supporter of all of our achievements and activities despite personal discomfort muddy soccer fields and rainy campsites.
She has been a loving wife for 52 years, selflessly devoting herself towards the happiness and well-being of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-granchild. She volunteered over 30 years at church in many different capacities but was well known as "The Messenger lady." Whether we needed a shoulder to cry on, an ear to just listen, or a supportive comment, well, mom just knew which was right and with it came a message of love that was always passed along. Her quiet and unassuming nature unwittingly became a role model for all who know her, yet her creative imagination for many a special event was always running at top speed. Her "green dinner" every St. Patty's day was enjoyed by us all. You never knew what you were going to eat next that might not be the color it was supposed to be. "Betty's Diner" was another childhood favorite that allowed us to order off mini menus, talk about working hard for small tips! "Had sufficient...'" at mealtime and the dialogue that it prompted cannot be explained to those who have not shared her table. Every holiday was created with design and steeped in tradition. The list goes on and on...
All of you here today knew and loved Betty. Each of you have your own special memory to cling to, just as we have ours. Thank you for being a part of her life, for sharing in ours, and letting her be a part of yours. Your thoughts and prayers are a blessing to us all and are cherished far more than you can know.
