

Betty May Smith, age 96, of Blaine, WA, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025.
Born in Kirkland, WA, to Harry Place and Sarah McGuire, Betty grew up surrounded by family. On September 9, 1947, she married Stanley Smith in Des Moines, WA, and together they raised a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley.
Betty made her home in several places with special meaning. She lived in Port Orchard, WA, on a family farm; Sebeka, MN, enjoying country life; League City, TX; and later Everett, WA. In her later years, she moved to Blaine, WA, to live with her son Randy and daughter-in-law Joanne, who supported her as she got older.
A devoted homemaker, Betty created a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and care. She enjoyed playing bingo, word searches, traveling, daytime TV, trips to the casino, and time with her beloved dogs, Gypsy and Sasha.
She is survived by her brother, Clyde Eugene Holeman of Kirkland, WA; her children: Stanley Mayo of Swanville, MN; Allen (Deborah) Smith of Vining, MN; Mike (Karen) Smith of Fridley, MN; Randy (JoAnne) Smith of Blaine, WA; Tracy (Mary) Smith of New York Mills, MN; Wendy Hotakainen of Maple Grove, MN; Calvin (Jackie) Smith of Friendswood, TX; and Cindie (Daniel) Anderson of Texas City, TX, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no service. In remembrance of Betty’s love for animals, donations may be made to any local humane society.
She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for her gentle strength, kindness, and the comfort she brought to all who knew her.
