

Blake Harrison Duckers, 23, passed away in his sleep in Seattle, Washington on February 6, 2017. He had recently moved to Seattle to begin his career after graduating from college. He was born on December 10, 1993 in The Woodlands, Texas and moved to San Antonio, Texas when he was one year old.
Blake was a Distinguished Honor Graduate of Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas. While in high school, he was a trumpet player in the Alamo Heights High School band and orchestra. Blake was actively involved in his high school and was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, The Latin Honor Society, and Junior State of America. He was a proud member of his school’s rocketry team and had the opportunity to present to engineers at NASA, where his grandfather once worked. Blake received numerous awards and distinctions in high school including The John Philip Sousa award for musicianship. He was named the best history student and band student of his senior class. He was also the recipient of the Vordenbaum Scholarship, the PTSO Scholarship, the Alamo Heights Band Association Scholarship, the Trinity University Trustee’s Scholarship, the Trinity University Music Scholarship and the San Antonio Livestock and Exposition Scholarship.
Blake graduated college early with a B.S. in Accounting and with Magna Cum Laude honors from Trinity University. While at Trinity, he was a trumpet player in the jazz band, symphony, wind ensemble and numerous smaller ensembles. He received an Accounting Award for outstanding performance in his classes. He also served as a Resident Assistant on the Residential Life Student Staff. He served as President of the business honor fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. He was most proud of his induction into the national honor society, Phi Beta Kappa. Blake worked as a Revenue Assurance Intern at Rackspace during his junior and senior years at Trinity. He received five job offers before beginning his senior year at Trinity, including his dream offer from Deloitte in Seattle.
Blake moved to Seattle, Washington in July 2016 to begin his job as an Advisory Consultant with Deloitte. Despite being in Seattle for only a short time, he made numerous connections with the community. His greatest joy was volunteering at The Pacific Science Center where he spent many hours working with children.
Blake was an amazing friend to all who knew him. His infectious smile and quick wit were loved by all. He is survived by numerous friends and family members including those he was closest to, his mother Cheryl, his brother Brock, and his Mammaw and Pappaw Balusek.
Services, provided by Bleitz Funeral Home, were held on February 9, 2017 in Seattle, Washington. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church – 825 E. Basse Road, San Antonio, TX 78209.
