
Born February 3, 1910 in Rizal, Nueva Ecija; Philippines, died January 2, 2002 in Seattle at age 91. At age 17, he came to the USA via port of entry Hawaii, becoming a US citizen on December 12, 1947. On May 28, 1943 he became a graduate of Asuza University, earning a Bachelor?s degree in Theology. Although he didn't have a parish of his own, he was very active with his church and was one of the early co-founders of a Filipino church, Beacon United Methodist Church.
In 1961 he met Lucy Primitivo in the Philippines, where they were married and came back to Seattle where they had a loving daughter, Linda in 1963.
He worked at Boeing as an upholsterer in the 1960's. After a lay off in the 1970's he worked at various jobs but became an inventor in his own right. He always said he was ''Jack of all trades, master of none.'' In 1970 he demonstrated his ''Air Valve'' invention to the Seattle City Engineer Inspector in the Natural Gas Plumbing under the City of Seattle Building Department. He retired in 1975 and enjoyed fishing.
Blas helped his nieces, nephews, and his wife?s family immigrate to the US. In 1995, he made his last trip to the Philippines.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lucy of Shoreline; daughter, Linda Maza-Sparks and her husband Martin; sister, Emelia Belo and many nieces and nephews.
