Brian Scott Cummins was born on November 6, 1964, in Kalispell, MT to Carol Dee Cummins of Seattle, WA. He attended North Seattle public schools, and spent his summers in Kalispell, MT with the Sunde clan (and he was very proud to be a Norwegian). His family included Grandpa Mark, Grandma Ella, Aunt Dode, Uncle Harold, Uncle Gig, Aunt Ruby, Aunt Meridee and dozens of cousins and relatives.
He graduated in 1983 from Ballard H.S. As a child, he was active in the Wallingford Boys and Girls club, and that’s where his love of sports was born. He played basketball, baseball, golf, swam and loved water skiing.
Brian was an avid fan of the Mariners, Seahawks and Sonics. He loved to spend time at the 9-hole golf course near Greenlake, would bowl with his good friends Jeff Petosa and Diane Buell and enjoyed playing cards or board games with his mom and friends. His favorite pastime, once he slowed down and lived in Shoreline, was getting mochas at Starbucks.
Brian was born with hemophilia and it never slowed him down as a kid and young adult. His mother would foster his drive to be active and would occasionally be surprised to learn things such as his newfound love for alpine skiing.
In high school, he worked at Petosa’s Grocery Store and then continued after graduation, when he was promoted to assistant manager. Later, he worked at the produce department at Food Giant and decided to take a break. He was briefly married and worked at Charlie’s Produce until he fell ill.
He died at age 59 in Seattle on Sunday, March 10, 2024 of natural causes. He is survived by his mom, uncle, aunts, cousins and close friends in Washington and Montana.
