

Carol was born November 12, 1937 to Dallas Gard and Ethel Gard nee Rasmussen in Eugene Or. She graduated from Cook Co. High School in Prineville, OR in 1955. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts in 1959.
Carol began her career as a social worker in Oregon City, OR. After moving to Seattle in 1970, she continued her career with Washington State Dept of Social and Health Services until her retirement in 1999.
Carol had many interests. Early on she enjoyed hiking, skiing, travel, fine dining and bridge. She was a prolific reader, usually having three to four books going at once. In later years and into retirement, she began birdwatching. She also began a successful business hunting for, discovering, buying and selling of antiques and vintage collectibles.
Throughout her life she volunteered with various organizations of interest including candidate campaigns, precinct organization, human rights work and charities.
Carol was full of kindness and tenacious caring about others. She exhibited much cleverness in all her endeavors that was appreciated and enjoyed by friends and relations. And she found joy and happiness in things big and small, which, according to Ann, led to lots and lots of fun and laughs.
She is survived by her partner, Ann Fowler, her brother and sister in law, William and Ann Gard, her close cousin Thomas Saunders, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Steve Gard.
