Carole, a longtime resident of Williamstown, peacefully passed away in Seattle WA with family by her side Sunday, September 20th.
Carole was born in New Jersey in 1934. She attended Trenton State College earning a teaching degree. She married Thomas Welsh and they started a family in New Jersey. The Welsh family moved to Williamstown in 1968 where they rebuilt the original farmhouse at the top of Luce Road.
Carole taught kindergarten – 2nd grades for many years in the Williamstown Elementary Schools. Carole loved music. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing, participating in church choir and local chorus groups. Carole attended the First Congregational Church. She also volunteered for the Historical Society and Thrift Shop.
The Welsh family happily enjoyed the many activities available in Berkshire County. They also built a beachfront cottage in Nova Scotia and enjoyed many great summers there. Sadly, her husband TJ, as she fondly called him, was taken too early by cancer in 1987. She never remarried. She moved to the Seattle area years later to be near her grandchildren in the twilight of her years.
Carole is survived by her two sons, Thomas Jr and wife Maura, Charles and wife Patty, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren who will all miss Nana dearly. She was predeceased by her elder sister Audrey.
The surviving Welsh family is planning a celebration of life event in Seattle, soon to be announced to family and friends, and a private ash placement memorial service in Nova Scotia next summer.
The family would like to thank the people at Cogir of Northgate Memory Care for their kindness and loving care during Carole’s final years.
