Born at Doctor?s Hospital Seattle, Washington, April, 1, 1962
Died at Home in Bellevue, WA, July 1, 2005
Charles was born in Seattle and grew up on Mercer Island. He died suddenly at home from heart disease. When he was three months old he was hospitalized with a high fever which resulted in brain damage. He loved school on M.I. and was transferred to special education classes at Highland Jr. Hi. He graduated from Interlake High School in the Hearing
and Neurologically Impaired Program. In spite of his challenges, he persisted and received an AA degree at Bellevue Community College.
He has lived in several group homes. Since 1993 he has lived in his own Bellevue apartment with the help of Seattle Mental Health and many other agencies. He loved all of his many counselors, chore workers and fellow clients that have supported him through many joys and crises.
Charles worked at Denny?s on Mercer Island for nine years until it closed. He loved and was well loved by his employer?s and fellow workers at the Secret Garden Tea Room in Factoria. It was his employer?s concern and compassion that led to finding Charles at home. The Tea Room was closed on Saturday, July 9, 2005 so that they all may attend the Memorial Service.
As a child he attended church at the Congregational Church of Mercer Island and in his adult years he was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church on M.I. He truly loved the Lord, the Word, his pastor, and his church family.
