Cherry Louise Parker quietly celebrated her 99th birthday on August 6, 2022 with her favorite ice cream and Ferrero-Rocher chocolates. But her greatest celebration occurred three days later when on August 9 she passed into the loving arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior.
Cherry was born to Maude and Louis Hardy in Pearsall, Texas on August 6, 1923. She was their only daughter among three sons, Wilmer, Wayne and Henry, and rumor has it that she was a bit spoiled.
After high school she served as a telephone operator in small-town Pearsall where she remained close to her many childhood friends. But her world broadened significantly when she met the love of her life, Charlie Parker. After a whirlwind courtship they married on January 20, 1946, a union that lasted 50 years until Charlie’s death in 1996. Charlie’s career in the United States Army took the family, now including son Ronnie and daughter Donna, on adventures to France, Turkey and beyond.
Cherry was a most loving wife and mother, as well as grandmother to Heather and Angela and great-grandmother to Amber and Michael.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Richards, granddaughters Heather Cooper and Angela Lutz and great grandchildren Amber and Michael Lutz.
A memorial service for Cherry will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133. Followed by a graveside service at Washelli Cemetery.
