Cheryl (Windish) Hart passed unexpectedly at home on Thursday, June 5th. Cheryl was born October 9, 1946 in Centralia, WA, the daughter of the late Fred and June (Hoover) Windish. At age 1½ the family moved to New Britain, CT, her father's home, and lived there until age 17. Returning to the Northwest, she graduated from high school in Port Angeles, and attended Peninsula College. She moved to Seattle and with her passion for books obtained employment at the Seattle Public Library. It was there she met the love of her life, John Hart. After the two married in 1969 John went on active service in the Navy and she followed him to California.
The couple permanently settled in Seattle in 1972, buying a small house in North Seattle. Together, with all their friends, they raised the roof, remodeled and added on to the house that is still their home. Cheryl worked at Washington Natural Gas in Records Management and Financial Services, retiring in 1999 after 27 years of service and gaining many lifelong friends. In retirement Cheryl was able to enjoy her passions. She delved deeply into genealogy, volunteering at the National Archives, and combined travels with John and her mother June searching out their histories all over the country. She was a wonderful and experimental cook, throwing great parties for all their friends and relatives. She loved to find just the right plants for her garden. Both John and she loved to travel having just returned from a wonderful trip to the Eastern regions of Canada and the US.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband John, brother-in-law Dave Hart (Judy), sister-in-law Shari Hart, nephews Pepe and Carlos Hart, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles in Puget Sound and Connecticut.
