Chieko Chickie Sumimoto, 88, of Seattle, Washington, died July 21st, 2014. She passed away peacefully with family by her side after a long battle with Alzheimers. She is survived by her three daughters, Carol (Don) Barnes, Julie (Mark) Sakura, and Debbie (Chris) Behrens. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Garret and Christina Sakura, and Derek Edamura and Trevor Behrens. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, and her husband, Toshio Sumimoto. Chickie was born in Japan and moved to Seattle when she was 7 years old. She met Tosh during their internment at Minidoka during the war. They were married for over 40 years. They both had a life-long love of camping, fishing, clam digging, mushroom picking, smelting, and squiding. Chickie also loved to dance and sing karaoke. Most importantly, Chickie loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
