Chris died June 27th just the way she wanted-at home and having spent a sweet day with her daughter Danielle and her sister Shawn. At the end of our visit, we hugged and said “I love you, talk tomorrow.”
We had watched her niece Krista perform in a local theatre’s stage production. Chris’ eyes lit up when Krista came to greet her and that was typical Chris. Always happy to see you!
Chris’ entire life was lived putting her family first and her daughter Dani was the apple of her eye. Chris greatly loved her husband of many years, Christopher Martin and his children, Erinn and Brian, enfolding them with her love and open heart into the family.
Chris enfolded our large extended and loud :) family in holiday gatherings, keeping us together all those years. She held her siblings, parents, nieces, nephews and cousins close to her heart and loved them all well. She had a heart of forgiveness when times called for it, and our family held tight through love through thick and thin.
Her daughter Dani was the apple of her eye, the child of her heart. Her nightly dancing-in-the kitchen partner and sports watching teammate. Chris was a Fan of all our Seattle sports teams, both men and women’s sports, but her first love was the Seahawks, being a fan from the start of the franchise. Chris’ unfailing devotion and tireless advocacy for Dani gave Dani the foundation to thrive and have a fulfilling happy life! Danielle carries on Chris’ legacy – Work is meaningful, Family is everything. Friends are everything. Inclusion is everything.
Chris loved her “Brownie Troop”- A tight knit group of girlfriends from High School, they continue to meet on zoom once a week and in person too. The “girls” and their families enjoyed years of campouts and holiday fun. They are supporting Chris’ family now. Thank you, Troopers!
I could write a book about Chris professional accomplishments in life, she rose from “messenger girl” to VP of International Banking, which she excelled at. But her focus was on relationships. Not material possessions, money or notoriety. Chris wanted to talk about YOU when she spent time with you. This is why she is loved by so many. We were all special to her! She loved well. She died well, leaving us with sweet memories.
Chris is survived by Dani’s father Christopher Martin, her step-children Erinn Hall and Brian Martin, all of whom Chris loved dearly and Dani greatly adores. She is also survived by her sister Shawn who will miss her terrifically as Chris was her biggest supporter all through her life until her last day on earth. Well done Chris! You are forever in our hearts, and it will be a sweet day full of laughter and dancing and hugs when we see each other again.
