

He was born in Davenport, Iowa, to John and Maxine (Bowlin) Gosma. At age 4, the family moved to Wenatchee, WA where his sister Pam was born in 1951. Cline graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1965, attended Wenatchee Valley College, a received a BA from Central Washington University, and later an MBA from the University of Puget Sound.
In 1969 he married Erin Chase, also from Wenatchee. They subsequently moved to Seattle, living in Magnolia for over 50 years. Their son Klaus was born in 1974.
On January 1, 1970 Cline began working at National Bank of Commerce. He retired from Bank of America 40 years later, having worked through the mergers and acquisitions of NBC into Rainier Bank, Security Pacific, Sea First, and Bank of America. He is remembered as a diligent and well-liked employee and colleague.
Friends and family recall his quiet demeanor, kindness, well-timed sense of humor, his fondness for bestowing monikers, and loyalty.
Cline is survived by his wife Erin, Son Klaus, grandchildren Lucy and Cassius, and his sister Pam Smits (John).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 6:00 PM at The Ballard Elks, 6411 SEAVIEW AVENUE NW, Ballard, WA 98107.
