
Colina E. Dyce, age 99, died February 25, 2001, at Crista Nursing Center in Seattle, of kidney and heart failure. ''Cinthy'' as she was known by her family, was born the youngest of six children on a farm in Spangel, WA. In her late teens, she taught classes in a one-room schoolhouse and continued a teaching career. Quoting a Dayton school principal, ''I rate Colina Campbell as one of the best teachers I have ever had with me. She is honest, faithful, loyal, concientious, and dependable...She is all wool and a yard wide everyway.'' Music has been her joy, singing, harmonizing and playing the piano and organ. She produced beautiful paintings, designs in craft, and sewing. For many years she was active as a member of PEO. She ran an office supply and service business in Walla Walla for several years. In 1957 she married long-time friend and widower , Dr. E. J. Tim Dyce, Professor of Apiculture of Cornell University, in Ithica, NY Living in Ithica, she participated in community and university activities, on one occasion travelling around the globe with Tim. When he retired, they moved to Boynton Beach and High Point, Florida, and later, after he died in 1976, she moved to Cristwood Senior Community in 1985. Her appreciation and encouragement of others, caring, and sense of humor, have been a pleasure foor everyone. She is survived by Tim's children, Rolf of Puerto Rico and Marilyn Charles Arden of Illinois, 5 grandchildren, David Terri Arden, Carolyn John Malkin, Nancy Arden, Eric Betsy Dyce and Karen Dyce, and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2001, at 2:00p.m. in the Chapel of Crista Senior Community Asisted Living, Vivian Martin Center, 19303 Fremont Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98133. In lieu of flowers, donations to World Concerns of Crista are welcome.
