We will miss Uncle Dana and still fondly remember him as a giant teddy- bear. We had the pleasure to have him visit us in Florida not long ago and feel fortunate to have spent time with him. We loved him so much and will miss him dearly.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Fair Winds Uncle Dana.

My heart is very heavy today with the loss of Dana. Him and his family have shared this block with me for almost fifty years. The Lewis family is one of the nicest families I've ever known.
Being single, Dana was always there for me if I ever needed anything. One night I came home from work and had locked myself out of the house. I called Dana and he came down in three feet of snow to let me in. When I needed my screen door fixed, it was Dana to the rescue. And it wasn't just me, it was anybody. He was always ready to step in with a helping hand.
I will miss that silver truck driving down the road. If I was out working in the yard, Dana would be coming down the street and always stop to say hello and chat for a minute. I will miss that smile and that East Coast chat.
My heart goes out to Sue and their family. I know they will support and love each other like they always have. Dana will be proud of them.
I will miss seeing Dana out in the yard, always working. Pulling up bushes, fixing the boys bikes, washing the cars, always busy. One day I said ,"Dana, you need to quit working so hard". But I don't think he knew how.
To Sue and the family, thank you for sharing Dana with us. I pray The Lord will give your family the strength you need to get through these troubling times and if you ever need anything , please know you can always count on me. This block will never be the same without him and he will be greatly missed,

So sorry to have just learned of Dana's passing. We grew up together in Nahant, MA and not only were next door neighbors as kids, but also our Dads both were instrumental in starting S.E.S. (Sea Explorers Ship) #91 "Polaris", which I'm sure led to what became Dana's outstanding career in the U.S. Coast Guard. My son Andrew had the great fortune of running into Dana when he went up to Seattle a couple of years ago, in order to study for and obtain his Merchant Maritime Mate's license. Always a great story teller, Dana regailed Andrew with tales from our misspent youth.
My sincere condolences to Dana's family, friends and legion of former students whose lives were made all the richer for having known him.
Smooth sailing and steady winds, Dana.

With his Boston brogue and charismatic presence, Dana could draw people close to him. His head and heart were filled with sea stories from his long USCG career, and his unrivaled ability to communicate them was something to behold. Captain Dana Lewis was an uncut gem of a man who had sailed all the world's seas. He was quick with a laugh and had a kind soul, he will be missed. He has passed Tennyson's bar and all the world is poorer for it. My sincere condolences to the family during this difficult time.
