

Daniel J. Bogstie, affectionately known as “Dan” to his friends and family, passed away on May 16, 2024, in Shoreline, WA. Born to Merle “Bud” Bogstie and Bonita “Bonnie” Ichlen on July 15, 1956, Dan was a cherished Senior Warehouseman of Seattle Public Utilities, Retired US Navy Reservist, and Retired Retail Clerks, known for his infectious smile, and generous spirit.
A proud graduate of O’Dea High School in 1974, Dan also went to Seattle Community College for some college courses. His passion in providing quality service originated from his career at Shop Rite - First Hill, as part time meat department associate to Store Manager position. His dedication in service continued when he joined the US Navy Reserves and retired after serving 20 years. Dan continued his great work ethic when he became a member of the Seattle Public Utilities, where he worked passionately, provided friendly, and respectful working environment.
In December 1998, Dan married Jennet A. Bogstie, and together they nurtured a family that would grow to include Selene Bogstie. Dan’s legacy is carried on through his family, whom he loved and adored.
Dan was an avid John Grisham reader, loved paddle boarding, surfing (when possible), hiking, and mostly tending to his garden. His nighttime was not complete without watching reruns of Adam -12, The Rifle Man, M*A*S*H, and The Andy Griffith Show.
Dan’s memory is honored and kept alive by his loving wife, Jennet, his daughter Selene, his brothers Victor (Diane), Johnny (Gina), his sister Rosemary (Alan), his mother-in-law Lydia Abad, his sister-in-law Julianne Abad, nieces, nephews. His absence will be missed by a community of friends and colleagues who respected and admired him.
A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be announced at a later date.
Dan’s smile, kindness, great work ethic, respectful demeanor, and the joy he brought to life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His, was a life well-lived and his legacy will continue to inspire.
