Age 103, passed away Jan. 26, 2002. Born Oct. 21, 1898, he graduated from F.H.S. in 1917 then served in the Army during World War I. He played semi-pro baseball for Rainier Beach. Mort worked for the Seattle P.I. and Seattle Times then enjoyed a 50-year career with State Farm Ins. He also enjoyed going to Husky and Seahawk games. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Myrl in 1972 after 53 years of marriage. Survived by two loving daughters, Betty Taylor-Brewer and Dorothy Fields; three grandchildren, Sharon Riegel of Sacramento, Steven Fields Sharon of Bothell and Shelley Mickelson of Port Hadlock; 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. Services will be held Fri., Feb. 1st at 2 PM at Evergreen-Washelli Chapel. A reception will follow at the 125th St. Grill on Aurora. Remembrances may be made to Medic I, Fire Dept. or your favorite charity.
