David C. Wong, 76, passed away on May 18, 2026. Born on January 16, 1950, Dave lived most of his life in Chicago and Glenview, Illinois, before moving to Seattle, Washington in 2021 to be closer to his children.
Dave built a distinguished career in technology, spending many years at IBM before going on to work at Absolute Software. But those who knew him best knew that family and friends were always his true calling. He had a gift for bringing people together. Whether around a dinner table, the grill, the driveway, or a hand of poker, he gave his time and care generously to everyone in his life. David had a particular talent in the kitchen, and his smoked salmon was something those lucky enough to taste it will not soon forget. A lifelong White Sox fan, he was lucky enough to see them win it all in 2005.
He is survived by his son Michael Wong and daughter-in-law Lauren; his daughter Anna Lavender and her family, Emily and Elizabeth; his grandson Damen; his sister Mary Falk and her husband Carl; his brother-in-law Gregory Eng and his wife Caroline; and nieces and nephews Jessica, Kathryn, Stephen and Christopher. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandra, his partner of 49 years, who passed in October 2024.
David will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life for both David and Sandra Wong will be held on August 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Swedish Club in Seattle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ballard Food Bank https://www.ballardfoodbank.org/donate
