I met Susie in 1983 when she "managed" the unmanagable - a rock n roll band called Albro Swift, in which I played keyboards. Susie was smart, engaging, spirited, and kind. Along with Craig, Scott, Keith, Ken, and Sally, we had a lot of fun and adventure. My condolences and love to Craig.

I give my hearfelt condolences to Craig & family. Susie will be so missed. She was such a positive role model who inspired us to do our best in the rifle line which I was lucky to join in 1974. I will always remember her for her kind ways and how much we worked hard (and played hard!) with lots of good times & laughter. How lucky I was to do an ensemble performance with her in 2003.   Susie-thank you for the creativeness, inspiration and dedication to those of us in your drum corps family. Save a spot for me!

I was so sad to hear the passing of Susie. We met in the Shamrocks in the early 70's and I was in total awe of her. I never seen anyone that tall and that could spin a rifle or flag like her. I was so excited to connect with her on facebook and then at the reunion in April. I love Susie and I will truly miss her. My thoughts and prayers to Craig,her children and grand daughter.

Dearest Suzie, You will be missed dearly by those whose lives you touched and I suspect that will be many. You had such a sweet and loving spirit from the moment I met you when the Shamrocks and Sentinels merged to form the Marksmen. I had become a Drum Corps faithful for life. You had helped us all to become better and more loving just for having known you. You were also helpful to us becoming a real Corps. You will always be missed and loved by all you touched. Hope to see you at the BIG DC in the sky.

Shocked and dismayed at your 'early graduation' doesn't begin to sum it up.  I met you when our drum corps merged and you were one of the grown up rifles, confident, strong and had kind eyes.  My heart goes out to Craig and your kiddos, but your legacy and love will continue on through them.  You'll be missed...love, Sue

The bonds formed through drum corps are rather special and often last a lifetime. Susie was a great connector bringing the corps community together.  Her spirit and guiding light will be missed.

I met you in Shamrocks in 1972 and you inspired me to twirl a rifle even though I was a guy.  Then 5 years later I got to be part of a rifle line with you in the Open All Knights.  In addition to being a great rifle spinner, you were a very kind person and I have very fond memories of you when I was a pre-teen.

Thoughts and prayers to the Newman family and to all hearts you touched.  I am sure you are gathering all drum corps members that have past before you for a reunion in heaven.  Keep marching.

I think we all owe Susie a huge "Thank You" for getting us together in April for the All Corps Reunion. It gave us all a chance to reconnect with each other.
What a wonderful gift she gave us all.

Susie has had an impact on me in so many ways. First, when I was the awkward kid sister hanging around Drum Corps practice, she always had a smile and kind word for me! Then, just a couple of years ago we "found" each other again and she was still that kind and encouraging person. I will miss her and I am so glad that I had the chance to reconnect with her. My heart goes out to her family.

The first time I really met Susie was when our two corps merged.  I was in awe of her.  Tall, smart and wow, the girl could spin a rifle.  She taught me, allowed me in as one of the newbies and we developed a strong bond in that rifle line that extends beyond just drum corps.  It's an inner strength and pride that takes you through life.  I'm proud she was part of that and helped teach me that.  She will be remembered.  Peace to Craig and the family.

Susie, we only shared the one summer of travel with the corp in Canada. My thoughts and prayers are with you family at this time. Farewell dear one. I will see you there.

I only met Susie last April via Facebook and in person at the all Drum Corps party.  It was her idea to get the members of all of the corps together for a mass reunion.  Through her efforts many old friendships have been renewed and many new friendships made.  Thank you and may you rest in peace Susie.

Susie! Your presence will surely be missed. So many fun fun fun memories with you and the Shamrocks! I just can't believe this news. You will always be loved and never forgotten! I am sure I see a drum corps welcoming you as you cross over the pearly gates. 

Susie and I had never met in person, we became friends through Facebook because of our shared love for Drum Corps. Susie had the gift of encouragement and freely shared herself with so many. Thank you Susie for asking me to be your friend.  You will be missed.

Susie first caught my eye in Th grade at Pinehurst elementary. She and my shleester were jumping rope so I thought I would join in. I guess I irritated Susie because she stopped and promptly whipped me right across the neck ....dam that hurt and it was winter time so the hurt was escalated. Trying not to cry a ran the other way just as fast as I could fearing what might be in store for me next. Aw young love does hurt sometimes

Sweet Susie, years of friendship,drum corps, fashion shows, make up counters, laughing, crying,  but most of all sharing our FAITH brings such comfort to me. The love you shared with Craig, Lynsey and Marcus, thier spouses and your grandaughter will forever be a blueprint for me. 
 

My heart and prayers goes out to the Newman family. Susie will be missed but never for gotten in our hearts.

I knew Susie from Drum Corps. When my daughter started doing Guard in High School I was reminded of Susie.
