Delores Jackson Lyde (Deeda) was born on March 25, 1944 in Mansfield, Louisiana. She was one of nine children of the late Norman Jackson and Elsia Mae Ivey. She later moved to Seattle, Washington and attended Garfield High School.
Delores met and married Rev. Zack Lyde in 1959 and from that union had three children, Michele Lyde, Rev. Elsia Lyde-Bland and Michael Lyde (Shirley). Being a military family, Delores and her family resided in several cities including Brunswick, Georgia, Fairbank, Alaska and Newport News, Virginia. In 1978, Delores and her children relocated back to Seattle where she started her career at Boeing and retired after 30 years of service.
Delores leaves behind to celebrate her life, her children, one sister-Joyce Russell, eight grandchildren-Donesha Dennis-Weems (Clyde), Michael Lyde Jr., Artosha Lyde, Derald Atkinson Jr., Kenda Lyde, Mary Teola and Terrell Smith, the father of her children and his family, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Delores was the love and strength of her family, a true servant of God, and a faithful Mother and member of the Seed of Life Baptist Church. She loved Sunday school and Bible Study. Delores embraced life. Everyone who knew her can say she did it her way. She was called home on June 2, 2016. We will forever miss the love and joy she brought to our lives.
