Dennis passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, in North Bend, Washington. Born to Donald and Evelyn Blair in East Brady, Pennsylvania, he moved with his family to Seattle at age six and grew up in the Wallingford neighborhood.
Dennis dedicated much of his life to service, hard work, and caring for others. He was always deeply respected for his steady presence and dependability. He also followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Seattle Police Department Reserve Unit. Dennis was commissioned in 1976 spending a significant amount of time at the North Precinct while simultaneously working for the Seattle Metro Wastewater Treatment Plant where he had a long respected career. Dennis served as a reserve officer until approximately 2022, having served just over 45 years as a commissioned SPD Reserve Officer. On Sunday mornings he could be found directing traffic at University Presbyterian Church. His presence was always a welcome sight for members of the church congregation.
Dennis spent years living in Kirkland before moving to North Bend, where he enjoyed the beauty and peace of the mountains and outdoors. He always found joy on adventures in nature. He enjoyed bike riding, camping, hiking, river rafting, and especially fly fishing. He treasured fishing trips to Montana, Canada, Alaska, and Argentina with his brother Randy, creating memories that remained close to his heart.
Dennis had many life long friends, everyone knew him and he made friends easily. He would help anyone who needed it. He also had a love for animals and was known for rescuing cats. His home was a sanctuary for homeless cats that found their way to him. Dennis's passion for aviation inspired him to work toward becoming a licensed pilot. These interests reflects the curiosity, compassion, kindness and quiet spirit that so many will remember in him.
He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Randy (Janice) Blair; his sister, Sharon (Michael) Roma; his nephews, Lassik Blair (Stone Blair and Bailey Blair), Anthony Roma; and his niece, Gina (Ben) Roma. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Mollola Blair.
Dennis will be remembered with love by all who knew him. His quiet generosity, steady character, and caring heart will be deeply missed.
A funeral service will be held on June 15, 2026 at 10:30am at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, Washington. 98133, followed by a Celebration of Life lunch at the same location.
