Dennis J. Ortblad, born on September 14, 1944, in Seattle, Washington, died on October 24, 2021 in Moscow, Russia. Dennis passed away during one of his many trips to Germany, Poland and Russia in his lifelong pursuit of travel. Dennis was the loving husband of 44 years to Mari Ortblad; loving father to Vanessa Pronovost (Dave), Portland, OR; Peter Ortblad (Audrey), Seattle, WA; and Clare Ortblad (Roy), Seattle, WA; and loving grandfather to Livia and Marcel Pronovost and Linnea and Colette Ortblad. Dennis is also survived by his brother Robert Ortblad (Katherine), Seattle, WA; Joan Aunet (Rolf), Campbell River, B.C.; Barbara Karlholm (Gustaf), Seattle, WA; Karen Ortblad (Kieran), Brookings, OR, and many nieces and nephews. Dennis is preceded in death by his sister Ellen Ortblad and his parents John and Frances Ortblad. Dennis lived a full and long life traveling the world living with his family in Germany, Poland, Japan, the Philippines, Switzerland and the United States (Hawaii and Washington D.C. Metro area) during his career as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer. For the last 10 years, Dennis and Mari enjoyed retirement together living in Seattle, WA, spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Please join the Ortblad family in celebrating the life of Dennis. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 815 E Edgar St, Seattle, WA 98102, at 10am on Thursday, November 18th followed by burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 700 W Raye St, Seattle, WA 98119.
