The video tribute to Derek was very moving.  It brought back many many memories of Derek through the years.  We will miss you Derek, but we will not forget you.  Being so far away, it is hard to imagine that you are really gone.  We celegrate your life and remember all the times that love was with you and our whole family when we had such wonderful times together over the years.

Cat, I do not know you or Derek, but I know your mother in law and she is an awesome lady. I can picture what your husband. I share empathy with you. I loss my husband once and it seems like we only had just begun. Keep Christ in first and have faith, because the does not give us anymore than you can bear. Keep all the good and not so good close to you and know Derek will never leave you.

Stay close to Steve, Stacy and Hayley. You all need each some much at this time.

Stacy and Steve have peace you did an excellent job. I read the other tributes and Derek was an awesome person. 

Derek body may be gone from this earth, but the SOUL goes on.

It is difficult to say goodbye to a person who brought light to the people around him.  I want to thank you for sharing your baby brother with me, through my friendship with him I had the pleasure to meet you and the wonderful family that the Szehner's are.  I will never forget all of the great times we had out on the boat those long summer days, then taking Applebee's by storm by night.  I am a strong believer in the thought that the energy of a person never leaves its family, so I know that you are out there somewhere protecting and watching over them from anything that may come their way.  Rest with the full confidence that all of us are looking after your beloved family, I vow to be there for your little brother, sister, parents and grandparents, through the good and bad times, to be a loyal friend, and help keep your memory alive.  Till the last leaf has fallen and the fruit of the tree of life is gone, we will one day meet again buddy...may you rest in peace

To the Szehner family, My sincerest condolences, the loss of a loved one is always a tough thing to endure.  With the help of friends and family the sun will shine again and you must always remember that a loved one is never lost or forgotten, they remain a part of the family forever.  Stay strong.

Although I did not have the opportunity to get to know Derek on a personal level, I have been able to experience the joy and pleasure of having a special relationship with both Stacy & Hayley. I also got to know Steve & Stacy's mom JoAnn and the times we shared at the Ballet Studio together are some of the happiest and most fulfilling times of my life. 
Stacy and her entire family were always there to 'give back' to those around them in so many different ways to help make the lives of other people a little bit better in any way they could. I am sure that Derek was also the exact same way because of the love, happiness and deep commitment to each other this family shared together. 
A true living example of what a family should be as they continue to share the journey of life and support each other, especially right now as they try to cope with this incredible loss of Derek. My heart goes out to all of you as well as our prayers that God will be with you during this difficult time in your lives.

I had the pleasure of working with Derek at AT&T.  I was very saddened to hear of the loss of Derek.  We were not close, but I was always impressed by his work ethic and care for co-workers and customers.  During the time that I got to know Derek, I learned of his love of live and family.  I am very sorry for your loss.  He was a wonderful person.
