

Don was born September 27, 1929 in Hot Springs, SD and passed away peacefully at home with family by his side in Shoreline on January 21, 2014 at age 84. He was a US Army Veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. Don owned ABC Painting, a residential and commercial painting business; and he was a Jack-of-all-trades.
Don was a fun and loving person who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He gave his family the insights into the fun and creative aspects of life. Don loved his family, racing cars, restoring cars, Nascar, driving quads in the desert, desert golf, wii bowling, Mariners, remodeling houses, gardening, bird watching, creating yard art, sewing and tinkering around.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Verna (Babe); son, Dan Corey & partner Diana; daughters, Diana & husband Bill Yates, Sandy & husband Dave Brown, Cathy & husband Rod Gregory and Toni & husband Jeff Kaufhold; many grand & great-grandchildren and extended family. He also leaves behind many friends from the Northwest and California.
Preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and William Ballmes, Sr.; son, Gary Ballmes; daughter, Joy & husband Squeak Barker; brother, William Ballmes, Jr.; sisters, Maebelle Tribou and Mary Pidgeon.
Husband, Father, Papa/Grandfather & Great-Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin and Friend will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
