Donald Wayne Crews was born on September 1, 1954 in a small town on the Columbia River called White Salmon. He was adopted as an infant by his parents, Betty and Marion Crews. They made their home in another small town along the Columbia: Stevenson, Washington.
He attended Clark College, Washington State University, and the University of Washington. He studied engineering at first but changed his major to Atmospheric Sciences and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.
While in college, he worked summers for the Forest Service, fighting fires in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. After graduating, he worked in data processing for The Bon Marche. He eventually landed at Boeing and spent the next 38 years working in electrical engineering. He retired in July of 2016 after being diagnosed with Early Onset Frontotemporal Dementia.
Don was devoted to his wife of 46 years, Laura. They raised two wonderful children, and lived a very happy life in Lynnwood, Washington.
On November 19, 2000, Don was confirmed in the Orthodox faith through the sacrament of Holy Chrismation.
Don was a talented golfer and loved the Seahawks and Husky football. He also had a genuine love for good food and never left a plate unfinished. He was an expert gardener and spent many hours outside working in his yard.
Don is survived by his wife Laura, his daughter Danielle Bergman, his son Tyler Crews, his sister Kathy Crews, his niece and nephew Jeffrey and Angela and 5 grandchildren: Grant, Cora, Ezra, Jonah and Joey. He is also survived by Laura’s mother, Sandra Mykris, and her brother, Michael Eacrett. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Marion Crews.
