Born in Seattle, WA on April 19, 1942, and died in Washington on October 25, 2024, with his wife of 62 years, Judy Sleight.
Don lovingly supported Judy as an artist. He beautifully matted and framed her creations and was always ready to help her set up for art shows. Together, they enjoyed skiing, hiking and traveling together. Don spent many years supporting his 2 sons on boy scout activities.
Don worked as an electrical engineer to support his family and gave his time and skills generously where needed. The first half of his career was spent at Bethlehem Steel, before working until retirement at Paccar’s Kenworth plant in Renton. Don had a special love for skiing and dedicated his winter weekends for many years as a volunteer ski patrolman and as a Search and Rescue team member and leader.
Don was a dedicated father. He is survived by his children: Jon Sleight (Sarah), Chris Sleight (Melissa), Debbie Ellis (Lance), eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter, as well as brothers Randy and Richard Sleight and sister Laurie Kleespies.
Don is dearly missed by his family and friends, and we all mourn his passing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
