It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Donald J. West, “Don West” who passed away on June 16, 2026.
Born on July 12, 1933 in Seattle, Washington, Don lived a life defined by dedication, hard work, and a passion for helping others. As a teacher, he touched countless lives, inspiring students through his patience, wisdom and acceptance of each individual. He carried those same qualities throughout his life, always willing to encourage, teach, and lend a helping hand.
After a dedicated career as a teacher, he found great joy working as a golf course groundskeeper at Snohomish Golf Course, where his love of the outdoors and meticulous attention to detail flourished. An exceptional golfer, avid athlete, and lover of nature, he found peace on the fairways and took great pride in the beauty that surrounded him. He also treasured time spent fishing with his grandchildren and friends, creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts.
At home, he and his wife Sally, shared a vision that became a lifelong labor of love. Together, they spent years carefully designing, planting, and tending their property, transforming it into a beautiful park-like sanctuary.
Above all, he was a devoted family man whose love, guidance, and example shaped the lives of those who knew him. He will be remembered for his integrity, perseverance, and the strength with which he faced life’s challenges.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sally (Brady) West. Daughters Connie (Bill) Buckingham, Christie West, Cyndie (Dave Mayer) West. Grandchildren, David Buckingham, Melissa (Ben) Bandel, Ben Keck and Chris (Jenn) Buckingham. Great-grandchildren, Will, Skylar, Sally, Timmy, Ryver, Trooper and Clover. His many loving Canadian relatives and his beloved service cat, Chloe.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the family members, friends and medical professionals who provided comfort and support during his final two years.
His love, lessons, and memory will remain in our hearts forever. May he now rest in God’s comfort and peace.
