Doris Carlene Howard, 89, of Kirkland, died June 25, 2014. She was born July 12, 1924 in Wallowa, OR, the daughter of the late Carl E. and Macel Mary (Wood) Haaland. Doris married James Cellie Howard on December 27, 1945 in Everett, WA. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2002. Doris was a former member of Highland Covenant Church, Bellevue, WA. She retired as a Registered Nurse from Dr. Lewis Fink after many years. Doris was active in the church and enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafts, gardening, traveling and sightseeing. She is survived by a daughter, Ellen Anderson and husband Greg; two sons, James Howard and wife Leslie and John Howard and wife Linda; eight grandchildren, Mark Anderson and wife Tina, Stephanie Fountaine, Stephen Howard, P.J. Howard, Christina Howard, Michelle Howard, Adam Howard and Amanda Werdell and husband, Joel; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Nicholas, Sophie, Bennett, Lochlan, Huckson, T.J. and Alexandra; a sister, Rose Hunter and a brother, Dick Haaland. Doris was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Radtke, a sister, Esther McQuatter and three brothers, Maynard, Willard and Edward Haaland.
