The strength and resiliency of Dorothy Haynes astounded all. Dorothy Haynes passed away on May 11, 2024 at the age of 90 in her hometown of Seattle, Washington. Despite pain and complications from medical issues, she stayed strong and resilient to the end.
She was the last surviving child of all of her siblings. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and our legacy! Dorothy was also known for her kindness to all and her willingness to open the doors of her family to special loved ones amongst us.
Dorothy was born in Texas in 1933 to John and Mabel. She had (9) siblings. She met and married Roger Haynes and had six children. Seeking a better life for her children, they moved to Seattle, WA. She is survived by her children, (10) grandchildren, (8) great grandchildren, (2) great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She later remarried Arthur Davis.
Birthdays were special to her; that was the time she imparted words of wisdom to us. She often quoted Eleanor Roosevelt. One of her favorite quotes was “ A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is, until you put her in hot water.”
Through life and now death, we know the depth of Dorothy Haynes.
It’s never easy to say goodbye, so we won’t. We’ll just say, so long for now and each day, we’ll say hello to your living spirit that dwells in each of us.
Funeral services will be held at May 24, 2024 at 12:00pm, Viewing at 11am.
