Dorothy moved to Seattle in 1945 to pursue a career in Social Services and Child Welfare working with Dr. Kaufman, in the Smith Tower, delighted to be in Seattle's tallest building at the time.
She met Milo Mathison in 1946, married in 1947; they were married 55 years, Milo passing in 2002. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Peggy Walker (Hudson, Florida), her many nieces and nephews, her two daughters, Peggy Lake (and her husband Dan) (Seattle, Washington) and Joyce Mathison (Seattle, Washington), and her granddaughter Peggy Elizabeth Mathison.
Her work in the Pharmaceutical Auxiliary and Bridge Club was rewarding, exchanging insights of her husband's business with her peers. Her great love of entertaining, the pride and hard work she put into it, instilled a lifetime of determination into her children. Family gatherings were cherished and celebrated.
Special thanks to Miracle Adult Family Care and Providence Elder-Place for giving such loving care.
A twinkle of love in every expression, her strong will and loving heart guiding her family, all will remember her as a lady.
God looked around His garden,
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this Earth
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
